Hi, I own a 10yr old ridgeback, female, who up until a few years ago was very healthy and happy. A few years ago her hair started falling out after scabs on her skin formed. Many, many vet trips later and 1 yr at the skin specialist, the problem was sort of solved. She was on antibiotics for ever and was misdiagnosed at one stage and put on cortisone for nearly 6mth!! and in the end I stopped all medication as she seemed to be deteriorating. The skin problem stayed in the sense she had all her hair back but the skin was sometimes a bit scabby and rough to touch. I decided to change her diet from crappy supermarket food to Eukanubar. This seemed to help, but no great change (other than her feaces). Then I got hold of Pat Coleby's book 'Natural Pet Care' and I have started feeding my dog Farrells kibble 4X2 with smaller amounts of protein foods.....I also put a small piece of copper in her water if she wanted it (she had two bowls, one without) drank from both....I also started to give her some of Pat's recommended minerals, but I have spoken to Pat on the phone and I now have concerns about her advice.
Has anyone followed Pat's advice in her book and what do you think of her remidies?
