As a preference i feed a natural or as natural diet to my dogs as is possible however the condition you say your dog has could be hormonal or even as some may suggest too much or not enough protein .
As a breeder of both dobermanns and ridgebacks i have seen protein bumps which scab in both breeds and hair loss in the dobes not in ridgies .
To fix the problem we used chicken and rice and a mixture of "bland foods" including 4x2's it seemed to work for us but that may not be the problem in your dog .
It could be something that your dog is coming into contact with (plant or chemical) and oleander bushes sometimes can cause extreme reaction in both humans and animals .
Bitches do sometimes seem to get hormonal problems and in younger bitches than yours vets suggest having a litter sometimes sortsout the problem wether true or not i cannot say .
As for Pat Coleby and her advice she may or may not be right however i can not se any great benefit by putting copper in a dogs water bowl and would question the validity of that advice.
If your dog has allergies the only way to find out what causes it is by a process of elimination and my view on Eukanuba is as anyone who knows me not fit to publish here and as you say it changed her stool but did little else it is also high protein and high chemical in its make up .
I can only say to you have you tried homepathic remedies there has been some quite good results reported perhaps it is worth a try .
regards colin
