Subject: Anybody out there? I've got a question.

I have a fl.tom that is 18inches deep X 16inches diamiter. I hate the over tones on it, and i've had it for a long time. I am seriuosly considering, cutting 2in. off the depht. So, it will end up a 16 x 16. Problem is covering up the allready drilled holes. I have figured a way to splice in pieces of the Hickory vaneer on the inside. It doesn't look like any of the old holes will turn up were the new bearing edge will be, so thats a plus. The big question is how to hide the old holes on the outside plastic wrap without haveing to recover. The plastic is obsoleat as far as I know ( 80's circa Remo chrome mylar. And the people at Remo, are not much help. They say that they dont make the chrome anymore ). If anyone knows any tricks to this, without telling me to recover it, I would really appreciate it. Peace and build more drums! P.S. Yes, Iv'e tryed many differant kinds of heads and muffleing. I really believe that the 2inches will make a differance!
