A tangy, familiar smell brushed against slitted nostrils, inexorably drawing the sleeping mind into the light of wakefulness. One eye opened, and she moved her forelock with a cursory thought so that her vision cleared. It had dawned, a new day, and the anger that had boiled inside her stomach had calmed to a simmering level. The faint wind, the dregs of which all that made the arduous journey into the musk of the cave, carried with it a well-known, well-liked scent. Ihileii. The only Shrarr that she actually liked, and the only one who seemed to understand her.

Audii lifted her long muzzle from her forepaws with deliberate lethargy, yawning once and listening to what seemed an echo of a distant roar accompany the compelled exhalation. She felt better for the sleep, which had seemingly lasted for days, and had managed to quell any overwhelming urge to be alone in the world during her time in solitude. Silver-tipped fur rustled noisily as she swung her tail forward, stretching it, then rose on four powerful limbs. The young female yawned once again, the automatic sound that was born on her breath more shrill and raspy this time, and it amused her with its cubbish tinge. Her nest was nearly flattened with her bulk, freshly cut greens thinned and seeping watery fluids -- Audii dipped her muzzle to sniff at her own belly. She smelled green.

The Shrarr found this amusing, then canted one long ear towards the cave mouth. Ihileii would be waiting for her, like she always was. The only constant thing in the newly-adult's life was her loyal compatriot, who was, in turn, the only thing Audii really cared about. Everything else could die miserable deaths for all she cared, as long as she and Ihileii were left unharmed. The thoughts were faintly amusing in their stoic solidity, and she cracked a befanged grin in surrender. Her bad mood had faded, and she wasn't the type to mourn its passing.

The long-limbed female padded gracelessly out of the cave, her shaggy fur coiling and twisting in waves of wordless expression, and raised her face to greet the rays of the dawning sun that shone through the jungle canopy... and to greet her friend.
