It is well documented that Eric was a great football player. Lots of people don't know he was a great baseball player, also.

He batted nearly .350 on the JV team last season and was expected to see some varsity action this year. I remember many good hits of his, but I most remember a time he was racing home from second base. I waived him around third and was worried he was going to be thrown out at the plate until he came tearing around third base. He was flat out flying. I was within three feet of him when he blazed passed me. I remember thinking at the time--"I am glad he was not running at me!"

He was powerful on the baseball diamond as well as the football field.
