Just a few thoughts for you. I channel reiki/janannsu/violet flame aspects. The white light you speak about. Do you get a cold feeling when channeling that aspect of energy? The reason i ask is that reiki to me is kind of earth/kundalini/hot fire energy and white light is often crystaline/cosmic/prana energy. Sometimes people who do reiki channel energies from the universe and stars. Stars being consciousness unto themselves. White is often occumpanied by blue light if your working with the star consciousness... Gold and silvar with white is often female/male divine principles. energies gold (F) directing silvar (m) creative force. Silvar nurchering (F) Gold in a loop.
The best thing i can say is to trust YOUR in-tuition. If it feels right to do something which on reflection would seem odd to do in a healing - trust yourself and do it anyway. Often its just what the patient needs. I often end up humming/ toning or blowing energies through a persons body for instance. Reiki is only the beginning... dont stick to strict positions and rules, you have all the knowledge within you when you are directed from within. INTENTION is all.

1. Healing
2. transmutation
3. love
4. peace
5. oneness?
try these and then make them on the palm of your hand before healing and see what happens.
