That was the proverbial 'good game for the neutral'. As a partisan though I was very disappointed by our failure to play in the first half, we were second to every ball and if we had gone in two or even three down we couldn't have complained. Trying to identify the cause I concluded that Hargreaves and Quinn just weren't at the races, and more generally the midfield four were no match for Cheltenham. In a way we are lucky to still be in the competition.

I know it was a new stand and a rush job but the stewarding was shocking. We were sat in row J (the back row, more about that anon) and folk were standing in the gangway directly in front pretty much the whole game. After a PA message asking folk to sit down was completely ignored the stewards took no action. They preferred to stand around in two huddles, one blocking access to the toilets, the other blocking access to the burger bar. Actually from my seat the goal itself behind the stand could not be seen anyway from a seated position, the impression was the stand had been shoe-horned in without much thought for the view.

Row J: All was fine and dandy and we were happily in our seats until some fans with tickets for row K turned up. There was no row K ! Was this why there were so many floating around without seats, or was row K in some strange hidden part of the stand, away from row J? We never did find out.

Full marks to the social club though, good cheap food, nice big screen for the Liverpool game; yet another club that can provide a pleasant pre-match environment for travelling fans.
