SECTION 1 : About Fserves
------------------------------------------------------------
An fserve is basically an IRC file server. It opens up
certain directories on your hd for other IRC users to access
and download files from using DCC send.

Setting up an fserve is surprisingly easy and will both help
out others and yourself with fills (it is a well known fact
that a lot of people who serve only like to help out others
who serve), so if you have a fast connection, it is a good
idea to set up an fserve even if you have only a few files!

SECTION 2 : Setting Up Your Fserve
------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly you will need a copy of Trident IRC, which can be
downoaded from the Trident website here:

http://www.geocities.com/gsmith19/

What follows are instructions on setting up your fserve.

SECTION 2.1 : Personal Details
--------------------------------------------------------
Go to FILE / OPTIONS / CONNECT and set your name, e-mail
and nickname. If you would like your nickname and your
password automatically verified when you log on, go to
TRIDENT IRC / SCRIPT SETTINGS / GENERAL / AUTO IDENTIFY
and set your username and password.

SECTION 2.2 : Fserve General Settings
--------------------------------------------------------
Go to TRIDENT IRC / SCRIPT SETTINGS / FILE SERVER and
fill in your note and any limits you wish to impose. Set
channels that you wish to advertise on and any send or
queue limits. If you visit other channels on IRC, please
un-check the setting for ALL CHANNELS on the advertising
options and just add the channels you would like to
serve on. Otherwise you will end up advertising your
jav server on the wrong channels! (^_^)

SECTION 2.3 : Trigger Settings
--------------------------------------------------------
Go to the TRIGGER tabs on the file server settings. You
have to set triggers to let people access your fserve.
Firstly change the trigger name in the top right. Then
choose the directory on your computer that will be
accessed with this trigger. Do this with as many as you
would like on your fserve.

SECTION 3 : Advertising Your Fserve
------------------------------------------------------------
To advertise your fserve, right click in the main window of
the channel you want to serve in and go to ADVERTISMENTS /
FILE SERVER / START. Your server will now be started and
you will be auto-voiced (given a + by your name) in the
channel.

SECTION 4 : Managing Queues
------------------------------------------------------------
To manage queues on your fserve, just go to TRIDENT IRC /
QUEUE MANAGER and click NORMAL or FRIENDS. Trident IRC has
two seperate queues. People on a channel with @ or + will be
automatically added to your "friends" queue, which runs
seperate to the normal queue. From here you can remove or
add items from the queue. It's very self-explanatory.

SECTION 5 : Shutting Down Your Fserve
------------------------------------------------------------
To shut down your fserve just follow the instructions for
advertising your fserve, but click on STOP instead of START.
Your current sends will be finished and the fserve will shut
down. If you do not want the current sends to finish, simply
close them.

SECTION 6 : Extra Settings
------------------------------------------------------------
There are extra settings that can be changed to allow for
more control over your fserve.

SECTION 6.1 : Minimum & Maximum CPS
--------------------------------------------------------
Depending on your bandwidth, you may want to set minimum
and / or maximum cps for your sends. To adjust these
settings go to TRIDENT IRC / SCRIPT SETTINGS / GENERAL /
MIN/MAX CPS. Minimum cps will stop any send going below
this speed and maximum cps will limit the speed of
outgoing file transfers. Useful if you have limited
upload bandwidth.
