Lizzy,

I'm not a doctor and I realize that other things than MS can cause lesions, but I think I'd get a second opinion. This is the first time I've heard of a virus being to blame.

I am not really familiar with your history though, as in how many docs you've seen so far. It really never hurts to get a second opinion anyway. I've been told I have one thing, only to have it retracted when new tests are ordered; I'm only saying that you should be confident that (s)he is right. I've heard of people with lesions being told it wasn't MS only to be diagnosed later.

If your symptoms fit into the profile of MS, I'd pursue it until you're sure you know what's wrong.

Can I ask you something too? Have you been tested for Lupus, Sjogrens and Lymes disease? These (as well as migraines & epilepsy) can cause lesions; any of these can be serious if not treated (except migraines).

There's a healthy balance in trusting your doctor and trusting your instincts about you situation; both are necessary. I just want to make sure you are informed. (I'm sorry if I'm repeating what you already know, but as I said, I don't really know you and I do want to help you.

Melodie
