Hi,

I recently got a photo from a Marine Fesselballon taking off from a torpedoboat near Zeebrugge harbour.
I never have seen anything of the kind, with the exception of a simular British photo.
What was the idea of doing so, while they were in both cases still very close to the coast.
Was this used very often ? What was the use of it as recon over sea could be done as well with planes ?
Thanks

John
