Hi Johan,
some basic-information about Sachsenberg-Werft.
Rosslau (today Roßlau) is a town near Dessau in Sachsen-Anhalt (former East-Germany) laying on river Elbe. 1844 the brothers Sachsenberg built up a company for engines. In 1866 they add a wharf which grows around 1900 to the biggest wharf for riverboats (Binnenwerft). The size and importance of the Sachsenberg-Company is same like Krupp in Essen (the Cannon-Krupp !!) The knowledge of "Flatboat-Technic" was so important that the Marineministerium ask them to construct a typ of torpedoboats which we know as A-Boats.
Roßlau has an own small shipbuildingmuseum but it is open only on thuesdays. So please give me some little time i will visit it and get out the other information for you. It is only about 30 miles from my hometown.
have a nice weekend
Peter
