Hello! The Deutsche Legion was indeed a Freikorps unit. It was formed 25 August 1919 in Mitau, Latvia from the 2. Infanterie-Brigade, parts of the Freiwilligen 1. Garde-Reserve-Division and Germans from the Baltische Landeswehr. It served under the Freiwillige Russische Westarmee commanded by Colonel Prince Pavel Avalov-Bermondt. The legion was disbanded 18 December 1919.

Three of the more famous Freikorps units were composed of naval personnel:

I. Marine-Brigade
II. Marine-Brigade (A.K.A. Brigade Ehrhardt): Commanded by Korvettenkapitän Hermann Ehrhardt
III. Marine-Brigade: Commanded by Korvettenkapitän (later Fregattenkapitän) Wilhelm Friedrich (geb. Wilfried) von Loewenfeld

Of interest, the III. Marine-Brigade contained the Sturmabteilung Arnauld de la Perière, commanded by the famous U-boat ace then Kapitänleutnant Lothar Arnauld de la Perière.

Best regards,
Shawn
