In my opinion, the greatest tag teams who had been rivalries prior to or after their tagging were:- Jushin Lyger Thunder and Great Sasuke. These guys were magic in the ring, wether it be against each other or with each other.

My second choice would have to be Bret and Owen. Their opening match at Wrestlemania X was nothing short of awsome and still remains probably the best opening match at PPV. Although their tagging was not that frequent they usually had brilliant matches when they did.

My last choice and more recent tag duo is probably Chis Benoit and Chris Jericho. They had amazing matches in the first half of 2000. Although it was a predictable alliance after Benoits face turn I thought their tag matches were wicked. They both had great tag chemistry while in the ring and Jerichos mic skills helped get Beniot over seeing as his promos can be dull and monotone.
