man the promoters screwed up... it got off to a REALLY bad start.

first of all, it was supposed to be an outdoor concert at hindmarsh stadium, but it had to be moved to the entertainment centre at the last minute because they found some cracks in the stage at hindmarsh. anyway, so i was really happy about this, coz i like the entertainment centre.

so doors were supposed to be at 5, and i got there with my friends at about quarter past 5. there was a really small line, and doors hadn't opened yet. we found out about an hour later that papa roach had cancelled. which was no big loss to me, but the guys in the line in front of me left, because apparently they were only there to see papa roach, and wanted a refund.

so anyway, we were finally let in at 7. we'd been waiting for ages, and it was starting to get cold. we got inside, and then realised that there were no doors labelled "general admission b" which is the tickets that my friends and i had. i'm not sure about the other concerts they've done in australia, but adelaide had 3 types of tickets: the chili bowl, right down the front of general admission: $116 or something. then there was seated, and general admission b, which was supposed to be behind the chili bowl. both the other 2 sections were $87.

anyway, we find out that because the venue changed, and because the entertainment centre holds 5000 people less than hindmarsh stadium, the general admission b people would ALL HAVE TO SIT. RIGHT AT THE BACK. we were all NOT HAPPY AT ALL. and then we find out that once you're inside the building, you can't get a refund. we were so pissed. we had to fucking SIT when we bought general admission. the chili bowl people were really pissed too, because of the barriers, and they ended up storming the security guards. we started a chant of "bulllllll shiiiiiiit! bulllllll shiiiiiiiiit!" and it was. EVERYONE was majorly pissed off, which is probably what led to the storming of the security guards. it was a beautiful site to see they were being such pricks, not wanting to explain to us why were weren't allowed onto the floor when we paid for floor tickets.

anyway, so quirk came on and i was just too pissed off to listen. everyone in the general admission b bit looked glum and shitty, and it was sooooo chockers. quirk finished, and i really didn't listen to them at all because i was just too worked up. after quirk, i went to had a go at one of the security guys and asked who i can write a letter of complaint to. then my friends and i tried to come up with a way to get onto the floor. we failed. so the chili's come out, and everyone went absolutely nuts. i think for the first few songs, most of us were a bit sad to see everyone on the floor having such a good time, but then everyone got up and started moshing in the aisles! it was so good! just looking around the stadium, and seeing all the aisles completely packed with people moshing and stuff. it was great

the first song was by the way, then scar tissue. the highlight for me was otherside. they also played suck my kiss, give it away, californication, zephyr song, soul to squeeze, parallel universe... and obviously alot more which i can't think of right now. encore was under the bridge and it totally went off. the whole stadium was standing, singing, and the singing was really really loud, which was just such a great experience.

flea was terrific as usual. he's such a god. oh, he wore white jocks, and a bright orange beanie, and bright orange shoes and socks. chad had a yellow football guernsey type thingo with his name on the back, john had just a black t shirt over a white long sleeve top, and flea started off with a black shirt, which he took off after the third song.

so after getting over the initial pissed-offedness, and after the band got started and sucked us all in to their HUGE AND FANTASTIC ENERGY, i think it was a really really great concert :)
