THIS is one of a few story's i have written. Hope ya like it. Sorry, i dont have a title for it.

The crimson waves pelted the hull of the ship, creating an endless, echoing roar. The rain was like bullets, firing at the ships as though the ocean were a target and the ship was the bull’s-eye. The vessel containing the creature recklessly rocked back and forth, coming dangerously close to falling into the icy water below. The creature lay asleep, unaware of its surroundings or its condition. For it would stay that way until its life support was disconnected and the airtight chamber was opened. Then it would do the only thing it knew how to do…hunt and eat.
The captain was a young cocky boy. He was warned repeatedly not to disturb the unknown vessel by the supplier of the cargo, not to mention the warning signs posted all over the strange looking capsule. His curiosity got the better of him. He felt lured towards the box, as though an unseen force was pulling him.
Slipping on a yellow rain coat with matching boots and a big hat, he clumsily huddled across the deck, shielding his face from the armor piercing rain with the collar of his raincoat. The ship rocked endlessly, nearly throwing the boy overboard several times. Almost by grace, he reached his destination.
There was a complicated control panel with flashing lights and, of course, a warning sign. The captain aimlessly pressed the buttons until he heard a loud suction sound. The airtight seal had been broken. The lights immediately stopped flashing, and the lid automatically opened.
The captain leaned over and looked in as a cool blue mist floated out and hovered around his legs. As the mist cleared, he could see a frightful sight.
It was just a little larger than an average man, maybe seven feet tall. Its stomach and the tops of its arms and legs were covered by thick, short, brown hair. His arms were abnormally long, hanging below his knees. His hands and feet were tipped with razor sharp claws, which glistened under the spotlights of the boat.
“What the…?” the captain managed to mutter before the creature opened his eyes, pulled back his hand, and sliced at the man, tearing a deep hole in the captain’s arm.
The captain grabbed his arm in pain. The creature sat upright and seemed to smile, revealing long, pearly-white fangs. The captain stared in terror, unable to move, let alone think straight.
The creature pulled back his legs, and with spring like action he kicked the man overboard, breaking off one of his nails in the captain’s abdomen.
Falling into the icy, churning water, the captain turned his head to see the boats propeller speeding towards him…. That was the last thing he saw.
The creature spread his large, muscular wings, which he had tucked tightly against his back. He gave an ear-piercing scream, then flew away into the night sky. He needed to eat soon, or die.

The rabbit scurried carefully across the forest floor, as though he was being stalked, which in fact, he was.
The bat creature soared through the night sky. The heavy rain had decreased to a mist, and the muffled roar of thunder was heard in the distance.
The bat was looking for anything edible, desperately scanning the forest floor for life giving food. The wind breezed through the trees, adding chill to the already cool night air.
The moon was brightly shining, giving an eerie glow to all objects.
Then, it moved; the rabbit made its last mistake; it moved, and the creature saw it. So did a hungry little fox. The creature would normally be much faster than the fox, but not noticing the rabbit until he was directly above it gave him a slight disadvantage. The fox wrestled the rabbit to the found, but before he knew what happened the bat swiped and instantly killed the fox and rabbit with his steak-knife claws. That night he would feast. Two animals in one kill, how lucky, but this was not enough to fill his ravenous appetite. He needed more.

“Rick, turn that down right now!” Rick’s mother yelled. “I can’t hear myself think.”
“Yes mother,” Rick replied through clenched teeth.
“Hey, why’d you turn that off?” Victoria whined. “That was my favorite song.”
“Mom said she can’t think, and we do need to finish this article.”
Rick and Victoria were a great team. They wrote the newspaper for Granddal High School. If there was anything worth writing about, they gave the most in depth story ever.
Victoria and Rick were best friends. She was tall and muscular and so was he. They both had green eyes and liked the same music. Victoria’s father was a general in the army.
The headline for the paper that week was “Dead Man Found On Beach”. They found out about the poor guy who fell to the propellers. The man was found chopped up, on the beach. The police were at the seen like a magnet to a refrigerator. Not much happened in the little town, so everyone who could get in on the case was very exited.
The ruled cause of death was that the man fell overboard during the storm and got diced by his ship’s propellers. There was one weird thing though. A razor sharp claw was found washed up in the mess.
-[]-
Rick and Victoria eagerly watched the evening news for any information they had not found in their own investigation of the sight. Because of Victoria’s father, she was allowed on the sight to do her own investigation.
They had found things the news never even talked about. But there was one thing Rick and Victoria didn’t know. An unknown creature’s claw had been found, and may have possibly been linked to the man’s death.
“Come on, we’ve got to get down to that beach now! This is the story of a lifetime!” Rick squawked with excitement.
Rick and Victoria bolted out the screen door, nearly knocking it off its hinges. The grass was wet with dew, and the night air had grown extremely cool over the last few hours. They ran, slipping and sliding on the grass, trying to reach their only way of transportation, Rick’s dad’s Corvette. They jumped into the vehicle and flew out the stony driveway, leaving a trail of dust behind them.

The creature had managed to stay alive. He ate a bird here, a squirrel there. But they were merely snacks. He needed more. The flashing lights of the squad cars on the beach drew his attention. His wings were getting tired and he needed to rest anyway. He gracefully turned and headed towards the beach.

“Sarge, we got back the DNA results of that claw ya found. Turns out it ain’t got no DNA; it’s steel, and razor sharp too.”
“What?” asked the Sarge. “What kind of animal has steel claws?”
“I don’t know sir, but from the looks of that claw, I sure wouldn’t want to meet it in a dark alley.”
“Me nei-“ Sarge was stopped in mid sentence by an awful sight. The bat creature was coming towards shore, its muscular wings pulling it closer to its feast.
“What… is that?”
“Oh my gosh…”
“It’s gonna land! Shoot it!”
Every one had something different to say, but when the first shot rang out, all others followed.
The creature was hit several times, but not in any life-threatening places. Some of the men ran and hid in their cars, others so frightened and struck with awe they didn’t move.
The bat creature swooped down, landed on the beach, and attacked. He grabbed the closest officer to him, digging his claws deep into the man’s stomach and pulling the man’s throat towards his mouth. He began to feast.
-[]-
Victoria and Rick pulled up to the beach. As soon as the gore-covered beach came into view, Rick slammed on the breaks of the car, startling Victoria out of her reverie.
“What happened?” Rick choked out.
“Oh my gosh…” was all Victoria could manage to say. Rick stepped out of the car and ran up towards the nearest squad car.
The roof of the squad car had been wrenched off, and claw marks were on the driver’s seat, exposing the soft cotton. There was also a severed hand tightly clenched to the steering wheel.
“W-what happened here?” Victoria asked.
“I don’t know; I just don’t know,” Rick said.
“But I do.”
Rick and Victoria, startled, turned to find themselves face to face with the hard, chiseled face of a Russian man.
“Who the heck are you?” Victoria demanded.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” the strange man said. “My name is
Dr. Hench.”
“Yeah, so?” Rick asked. “What do you want?”
“Its not what I want at the moment, but rather what you want. I have some very valuable information as to what’s going on here. This could make you known worldwide. You’d be famous. I’ll let you in on this tragic secret if you promise to assist me.”
“Agreed,” Rick said.
“No! Wait, shut up, Rick!” Victoria hollered, grabbing Rick’s shirt and pulling him behind the trashed car. “I don’t like this man at all. He scares me, Rick.”
“Yeah, well if we want to hit it big, we are going to have to trust him.”
“How will we know he’s telling the truth?”
“We will just have to trust him,” Rick said.
“Alright, but he has to give us the story. Before we give him assistance, what ever that may be.”
“Agreed,” bellowed Dr. Hench. “This may sound crazy, but I swear to you it is the solemn truth.” Dr. Hench began his story.

“My beloved friend and partner, Dr. Poe, and I were working with and doing studies on bats. All breeds and sizes. They were absolutely amazing creatures, and I was enjoying myself. That was also my first visit to Italy. I swear that country has the most beautiful scenery, but anyway. Dr. Poe came up with this lunatic idea of making some kind of super bat. Some kind of hybrid. I was totally against the idea. I told him those things were not to be messed with. He wouldn’t listen. He thought it was a marvelous idea.
While I was asleep, he snuck out into the streets and knocked out a drunken man. He brought the man back to the laboratory and put him in a cage. He injected the man with bat DNA and a few steroids. The man went through months of pain and suffering. His entire molecular structure was changed. Finally after nearly a year, the man no longer looked like a man. He had wings, and fur, and fangs. Dr. Poe wanted him to be a miracle animal, so he added steel claws, just to make it look more dangerous. But in fact he had made it more dangerous.
A bat eats hundreds of insects a night. This creature’s appetite was similar, only it needed meat. It was a ravenous beast. It killed three of our employees. I couldn’t take it any longer so I packed up and moved here. Dr. Poe was furious with me. But, after he was attacked and nearly killed by the bat, he put the creature to sleep, stuck it in a life support chamber, and shipped it to me.
Dr. Poe couldn’t kill his own creation, so that was my job. I had no problem with that. But then that stupid captain opened the container hauling the creature. He got what he deserved, seeing he was sternly warned.”
“Oh, my, gosh…” was again all Victoria could manage to say.
“No way. It can’t be. But seeing the mess we have here, it’s the only logical explanation. But who is going to believe something like that? If we print that story in the paper we’ll be the laughing stock of the town.” Rick said.
“I’m sorry, but that is not my problem. I need your help; you agreed to help if I told you what happened. The creature is still alive and most likely still within a few acres of here. I could kill it myself, but it would be a lot easier if I had help. And you both are going to help me.” An evil grin spread across Dr. Hench’s face. “I have three shotguns in my truck,” he pointed towards a green pickup truck. “We’re going to hunt a bat, like it or not.”
Dr. Hench walked over to his pickup and grabbed the three shotguns and a box of shells, then returned to the stunned teens. “Either of you not know how to shoot a gun?” There was silence. “Alright then.” Dr. Hench handed a gun to Victoria and Rick, who proceeded to load their guns.
“We’ll enter there.” Dr. Hench pointed towards an opening in the forest boardering the beach. “You see it, you shoot it. It sees you, you die. So stay alert. Come now, follow.”
The three made their way into the dark forest. There were no nature sounds. It was eerily silent. The moon was brightly shining, shifting in and out of the clouds.
Rick became tangled in a web of vines. A thorn made a deep gash in his face. He cried out in a grunt of pain. Every one stopped.
They knew the creature was watching them. Before anyone could react, the bat swooped and landed on the forest floor, directly in front or Dr. Hench. No sooner did the doctor raise his gun, than the creature grabbed him by the throat and lifted him off of his feet. They stared at each other for several seconds, the creature and the doctor, in silence.
But the silence was broken as the creature swiped at the doctor’s abdomen, eviscerating him. The doctor gave a sickening gurgle before the creature squeezed his neck. The nauseating sound of crunching bones drifted through the night air.
The creature dropped the doctor’s limp body on the ground and turned towards Rick and Victoria.
The creature lunged at Rick. Without thinking, Victoria raised her gun and fired the leaves and brittle, low lying branches, blown apart by the blast. It struck the creature in the stomach. He screamed and sliced at Rick again, tearing a hole in Rick’s cheek.
Victoria fired again, and again, and again. The creature’s stomach was mutilated. It grasped its wound, howled, and weakly stumbled towards Victoria. She raised her gun and fired one more time, hitting the creature in the shoulder. The creature stumbled forward, then howled - a howl of death. It grabbed its shoulder wound, stumbled again, and tripped over Dr. Hench’s body. It fell to the ground, tried to get up, but fell once more. It cried out, gave one final spasm, and then fell limp.
-[]-
The paramedics hoisted Rick’s semiconscious body into the back of the ambulance. Rick had lost a lot of blood, but would recover after a few days in the hospital. There was no hope for Dr. Hench.
“Ma’am, we need to get to the hospital. Would you like a ride?” asked the ambulance driver.
“I thought you’d never ask,” said Victoria as she hoisted herself into the back of the ambulance and took a seat beside Rick. The ambulance started up and retreated towards the hospital.

Hundreds of police officers, FBI agents, and of course, coroners, were patrolling the beach. Most of the victims could still be identified, but several were in nothing more than pieces. As the police officers made their way into the forest, they made a grisly discovery.
-[]-
Rick lay in the hospital bed while Victoria sat on the edge of the bed. They had sat in an awkward silence, not quite sure what to say. They were both in shock, for sure. But discussing the events that happened just hours ago didn’t seem like the right thing to talk about.
Victoria, fed up with the silence, grabbed the television remote off the nightstand beside Rick’s bed and turned on the television. The first thing they saw was a special report. Victoria wanted to change the channel but Rick told her to leave it on. He wanted to see what the police had discovered, what the police’s theory was. Victoria turned up the volume and set the remote back on the nightstand. They both listened intently to the reporter.
“Although most victims will be identified, several will not. Two young teenagers, who will remain anonymous, first reported the grisly scene to the sheriff’s department,” the reporter announced. “Of course this event is very bizarre and mysterious. However, more mystery was added several minutes ago when the eviscerated body of the world famous Dr. Hench was found a few hundred yards away from the beach in the surrounding forest.”
Victoria’s mouth dropped.
“Only two feet away from the doctor’s body,” the reporter continued, “a tuft of brown hair and a steel claw were found imbedded in the dirt. The hair DNA matched that of a bat, and officials claim the apparent claw matches shape and size of the claw found earlier today. However, the animal to which these claws and fur belong has yet to be found…”
