I have wondered about this very same problem on my Chevy pickup. This is what I've come up with. GROUNDING! Check your grounds good. replace anything that may be bad. On the tank is a ground strap that goes to the body. Check that it is clean. Then check the frame to body ground and so on. Hope this helps. I had not had the time to do this but it's a good general check anyway. regards
