Praise Reports

Praise the Lord! Last Friday night we enjoyed the Chiba Hope Concert tremendously. "Copan" shared their original music which consists of vocal, guitar, piano and pianica (a wind instrument with a keyboard, often used in Japan by school-children) The combination of Shoko's pure soprano and the delightfully innocent pianica was magical. Shoko shared with us how before she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer she had almost taken her voice for granted. After doctors spent 6 hours (normally a three hour procedure) carefully removing the tumor without damaging the nerves that control the vocal chords, Shoko knew that she could not treat lightly what God had both given and given back to her. At the end of the concert, Yasuko joined me in an arrangement of Psalm 30, singing and dancing to "You have turned for me my mourning into dancing, dancing. You have put off my rags and clothed me with joy!"

Praise the Lord! We prayed for more workers in the children's ministry and the Lord has provided them. We prayed for a pianist for the Machida evening service and the Lord has provided two. Pray that we would not fail to keep asking for everything that we need and that we would not fail to expect God to provide.

Prayer Requests

Pray for a special presentation by a group of professional surfers who are Christians on Saturday night at our Machida church. They are going to give testimonies and show a Christian surf movie with Japanese subtitles. The surfers involved are Brian Jennings, Skip Pry, Tom Collins, Kim Colon, John Copper and Peter King. Pray that the Lord would use them to open Japanese hearts to the gospel. Pray that the Lord would encourage them to not grow weary in doing good.
