//\Slowly he returns from the barn, something warm wrapped in his hands. He whispers calm words to the anxious mare, but does not go near. Seeing the tiny filla panicing, he walks over quickly but smoothly, still watching the dam. Hand is placed carefully over the dial of the small one, holding her steady with gentle but firm force. In his other hand he carries a strange apparatus, a small humidifier. He places it near the filly's nares, allowing her to breathe in the warm, moist air so that her lungs may warm and clear. Placing a warm water bag over her lungs, he pauses for a few minutes holding the heat there (always watching the dam) until the filly's breathing becomes calm and normal. He pulls another syringe from his pouch, this one without a needle. Inside is a thin, honey-colored substance, the thickness of milk. The medicine was designed to ease fever, pain, and stress. He carefully inserts it into the side of the foal's mouth, squeezing quickly and listening for her to swallow. Satisfied, he backs away, taking the humidifier and water pad with him. He readjusts a heat lamp to warm the filly's body at a more gradual pace. Then he returns to his house, though the barn remains warm, the chilly night air stings his ears as he walks./\\
