My four year old Grand daughter is glued to the TV during rodeos. She likes it all and has pretty good savvy of it. She's in her second year of junior rodeo and has two more seasons in the five and under and is getting better. I'm proud of the way my son and DIL handle the rodeo deal. Since they both grew up in it, they both know a little kid doesn't need to win everything they enter to be OK. Lots of times I see parents new to rodeo who seem to think their kids need to be super kids and with all the schools and clinics now, they sometimes come close, but many times as soon as thoose kids get done with junior and HS rodeos, you never see them again. That's any sport anymore Hap. I think too many people are trying to live vicariously(sp?) through their children the way they make kids activities do or die. My stepson he plays soccer, has a full scholorship for it next year actually. Now his best friend Sean had the same chance as him. At the signing for Sean he ripped the contract up saying he hates soccer always has. He stuck with it all these years because of his parents & their constant nagging to be best & practice. Kind of sad that all that would lead to throw away a great opportunity because of the resentment . My stepson says he feels pretty blessed to have school fully paid for & all he has to do is play children's game! I'm gald he sees it that way, that's how it should be with sports. Glad to hear your granddaughter is learning to have fun at rodeo.
