I went to the first NFR in Dallas as a spectator. Went with my Dad and Grandad. It was funny because that year I had made a little over $5,000.00 goin' to little punkin rollins and have never heard of Harry Tomkins. The next year I went to a party he had after our college rodeo. A pal of mine furnished some bulls for a buckin' that Tomkins put on. It was pure ammy but was a pretty good show as the bulls matched the riders. -- RODEO RAMBLINGS

In reply to: Varmit 's message, "Another thing I forgot to mention... todays guys made the limited rodeo rule so they could be home more... where when I was going we would leave in around the end May and stay gone until after Labor Day, and because that was the prime time of rodeo back then compared to today, we dredded seeing Labor Day come around.
