Subject: Angus calves is the reason. Use to buy some in the fall. They were much cheaper. The more you roped them the worse and stronger they got. They'd be running up the rope, running around, kicking, only after a half dozen runs. I know they rope them at least twice before the rodeo, maybe more. They they roped at least 3 times during the rodeo. Then I heard Joe say they rope and tie down every calf and bulldog every steer after the perf is over. So as each round goes by the more they have been roped and the worse they get. Plus if you watch the pickup man puts a rope on each calf and teaches him to run around heading for the catch pen.
In reply to: Bruce 's message, "Stupid question? Does it seem to anyone else that the calf ropers ooops, I mean tiedown ropers are struggling more this year. It doesn't seem as though the times have been as fast, and several guys are having problems tying? Also just personal opinion- I think Mike Johnson's horse is the best trained and hardest stopping cayuse out there in Vegas." on 17:16:42 12/10/08 Wed
