APHIS doesn't have the money, man power nor computer program to keep up with the movement of cattle. My ranch is registered and I got a letter from TAHC telling me I could withdraw my location registration if I wished. I see no point in withdrawing.

Our local stockyards has everybody sign a statement that the cattle they are selling are all of US origin. That's it! Nothing more. I bought 4 Correntie 3yo yeifers the other day and sold them the next day. I got the certification that they were of US origin and I gave the buyer a bill of sale with the same certification. I didn't give them my location number of anything else. Just certified that they were of US origin.

Typical Bush era sort of thinking. No RFID tags in their ears and I didn't report to anybody. Stupid make work project that didn't help anybody.

If we are going to have a program we should track every animal. It wouldn't be that hard. Just put a RFID tag in their ears and let the reader scan them when they are tagged and again when the go through the load out chute. It would just take some cowboy nerd to set the system up and get it all done with no labor other than putting the tag in their ear. Computers would do the rest. The problem is WHO THE HELL WOULD PAY FOR IT?
