Subject: Lost finger.

A girl around 12 years old lost her pinky at the knuckle here this weekend.
They left the horn knot on the rope for the breakaway roping and when she roped she got her finger in the horn knot and it stripped it off the bone. They took her and her finger to Durango to see if it could be reattached but they went ahead and cut the bone off.
She's one tough little Navajo girl and never even whimpered, just trotted on out kinda holding her hand up by her chest.
The rope tightened down on her finger and it was dragged to the stripping chute.
I think these junior rodeos need a safety seminar at least once a year to try to prevent those kinds of mistakes.
