My dad rodeo saddle broncs until he was about 42... think he quit the bareback riding at about 37 or 38. Continued to bulldog until he was 58. But he did quit riding bulls at 30. Said he was getting nervous about getting on them. Think we all have a chemistry change about that age compared to our young 20's. I know I use to jump on those planes without any thought until I was about 30 then I would question myself as to why I was up in the air in an oversize tin can with wings. -- RODEO RAMBLINGS

I never meant for it to sound like I was against guys riding when they got older, but like I said above, they are the exception and more power to them. - Not holding nothing against ya Hap or anyone who retires early. I just like seeing guys with talent and age around whipping up on the kids Like I said before it don't take long for kids to forget who anyone is. Kid in the top 50 riding a horse from down here called the owner and said I ran into this guy who said to tell you hello. Kid said "don't know who he is but said his name was Jerry Jetton.   - Another story like that is when my oldest son would tell me about a real neat guy that subbed bucking horses and the young guys really enjoyed visiting with him and he hauled some real good horses. I asked him what that guys name was and he only knew him as Dennis or Denny. Next time he saw him he asked and it was Dennis Reiners. His rodeo days meant nothing to the young guys because they never heard of him, but they liked him because they only knew him as a friendly old guy who wouldn't BS them when it came to telling them how much rein to give one of his horses..
