Subject: Varmit, three years ago the NM governor went to the NFR and decided there needed to be more NM cowboys there competing. So he came home and put a chunk of money into a new fund and formed a rodeo council to decide who gets the money and how it should be spent. It has been doled out to build new arenas, upgrade old ones, and offer sponsorship and support to rodeo hands and events. Promoting the sport in the state, the added money at Santa Fe is just one of the ways it shows up for the sport. The funds have gone to rodeo on all levels in the state --high school, amatuer, college and the pro shows too.
