Troy Ellerman Enters Plea in BALCO Case

Thursday, February 15, 2007. Today in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco, Calif., Troy Ellerman entered a guilty plea to one count of filing a false declaration, one count of obstruction of justice and two counts of contempt relating to the BALCO matter. The BALCO investigation is not related to PRCA business. Mr. Ellerman currently serves as Commissioner of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in Colorado Springs, Colo.

PRCA Chairman Keith Martin said, �The PRCA is financially strong and, as always, our board remains focused on continued strength, stability and progress within the organization. The PRCA is the No. 1 rodeo sanctioning body in the world, and the board is working hard on a daily basis to continue to promote and grow this great sport.�

Mr. Ellerman will not make any further comments regarding this case until the Court issues its sentence.

- U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White isn't bound by the plea agreement and said he hasn't decided whether to accept it. White said he could impose as much as a 15-year prison term at Ellerman's sentencing, set for June 14. .... hmmm.... shouldn't the reporters be sent away to, they knew what they were getting was illegal.   - No matter what they do or don't do to others don't help PRCA's image right about now. Only TE's deal is all that counts as far as bad publicity towards the PRCA goes. Much like the old Hoffa days when somebody heard od a guy joining the Teamsters union they were sometimes labled as riff-raff because of the reputation of big wigs, when actually, all they were doing was working and mainly driving trucks. They paid union dues in order to get a job, not unlike PRCA dues now.Some folks felt they'd just as soon have a sister working in a brothel as to have a brother in the teamsters.
