Subject: No, don't think it is a misprint. Working with a couple rodeo committees I'm finding the new theory is if you can't raise the pot with numbers you raise it with fees. Taking notes from the PRB and such, even the smaller rodeos are trying to attract some names that will attract a crowd. This same contractor that is in the article started his "American Tour"--every year it has a new name , Angry American, All American, --anyway, it promotes the rough stock events (which are hardest hit with low numbers yet a crowd favorite) and adds more money to those events, then keeps score/points for a total of 20 or so tour rodeos to get to a finals with the top $$ winners. It seems to have picked up the the numbers of RS contestants at the small rodeos.
In reply to: Varmit 's message, "In that article is says, "But the Lion's Club has taken the increases into consideration, and to entice more people to participate, they have raised their entry fee, which will ultimately increase the overall pot."..... is that a misquote? I have never seen an increase in entry fees draw more contestants. They can barely make gas money and they are going to increase the entry fees? Maybe if they lowered the entry fees and added more purse they would draw more contestants." on 19:36:35 06/10/06 Sat
