I look at steer roping as being the outer wall protecting the fort. Once it goes then the next wall is in jeopardy.

As this article states where they gave in to the ara's by not having calf roping. Now the ara's say they are going after steer wrestling.

One of my young bronc riding friends set a pretty good pace in that deal in the first perf, with an 86, followed by his traveling partner with an 83. He has been e-mailing me and before he went over he had me contact one of the Aussies that we've stayed in touch with to let him know he's coming. The Aussie kid is also riding in that. What this article failed to mention is there is 20,000 people in the stands each night for the first three perfs. The Aussie is taking some of them rodeoing with him while they have a break between horses, and the first one is a 10 hour trip so they are going to see some country.   - Yeah, Pendleton is what came to mind. That's a pretty big deal over there and I think they can make pretty good money out of it. Plus the trip is paid. I think a group from Canada went last year and did good. Looks like they spread it around from year to year, don't know really how they select. Those Aussies are going to think Aragon is more common than Smith or Jones because I know of at least three of the sixteen are Aragons and don't think they are kin to each other.
