Subject: I heard stories from my dad back in the 50's about match ropings. They would rope like 5 calves, 5 steers and 5 donkeys. I can't remember the names, but one good story was about a match roping between 2 tough ropers and it came down to a very close race with 1 steer left. The one guy drew a fairly small steer, so he jumped on his calf roping horse. Jerked the steer over backwards and tied him. Won the roping but alot of controversy over that amoung the gamblers betting on the match. But I guess the rule read " The steer had to be jerked down and tied".
