Subject: Though tears flowed freely from her eyes

The sand which trickled through the cracks in November’s glasslike surface now stung the young mare's eyes. Frightened, she leapt back as the spider-web cracks spread outwards, more and more sand pouring in. Through the cascade of particles she could see her smartship's console blinking, a hint of life, a life soon to be buried with her own. Her breathing grew rapid as the nimbus of golden energy surrounding her white hide now intensified.

"Nooooooo!!!!" she screamed, as a golden sphere of energy bubbled forth from her chest, streaking with a lightning trail toward the already cracking glass. She threw up her hooves to shield her eyes as the ball of light shot forth into the Dracan skies from the partially buried craft. Panic and claustrophopia overwhelmed her. All she knew was she wanted out of the nightmare situation as soon as possible. Outside, a pair of nomad watchmen bore witness as a humanoid horse-like alien now arose into the sky through the opening blasted seconds earlier, a rainbow trail in her wake. She arced to an apex, hooves still before her, moving too quickly to understand the sudden rush of air. The rainbow streak cut short now, and as she impossibly drifted slowly to the sand, tiny black squares flickered across the surface of her skin and garments.

Settled on the ground once more, she opened her eyes, squinting against a light brighter than any she had known on Kymellia, a lush paradise with no deserts. There was no sign of November now, lost somewhere beneath the sands, and were the air less arid tears might have welled up in her large brown eyes once more...

I laughed the loudest who'd have known?"
