Every creature has the ability to bond, but most can only do it once. There are a few exceptions, but not very many - about 1 in 1,000,000. One factor that can’t change is this: the bonded pair must be of the same species, and they must be male and female. It will not work any other way. There is as you may have already guessed an age limit, between 50 and 100, but that too may change depending on the individual(s). For some it will be longer, for others much shorter. The above outlines the basic restrictions, but I may have left a few out. I’m still working on it.
Now for the benefits... As I mentioned before there is quite a lot to be gained from being bonded with another, preferably with someone who is more cunning or who possesses greater strength, etc.
·You develop a physic link with that person (or in this case Dragonesses), which allows you to communicate through mind readings over millions of miles.
·When in trouble that person feels obliged to come to your rescue, ...they are literally your protector (someone to count on).
·Another benefit, and perhaps the greatest one yet is this – your immune system strengthens, and it becomes almost impossible to die (through sickness and disease that is). Poison doesn’t work on you either. In fact the only real way to die is to be killed, but because you’re relying both on your own energy source and the other’s this too rarely happens. You’ll also find that all of your wounds will heal much faster than they would under normal circumstances.
·Etc., you get the picture – right?
In spite of the fact that there aren’t very many downfalls to being bounded you can’t deny that with like everything else there are a few:
·Basically you feel each other’s pain; if one is physically wounded than the other will experience his or her pain, but not necessarily the actual wound. Another example is this: if one breaks their arm and is not able to use it so too will the other. But, and yes there’s always a but... that person will only feel as though they have broken it when in truth they have not. This is rather hard to explain; I hope I’m not confusing you even more Dawn. (Fingers crossed.)
·I think I told you this before, but our deaths will come at the exact same time, whenever that may be. Get it? Basically the jewel is like a lifeline, while you are wearing it our hearts shall beat as one. (Kinda corny, but I think it makes it more interesting.)
In all bondings a sacrifice must be made, but the sacrifice will be different for different species. For us I must give you Soleil’s jewel, the one on her chest and you must wear it. But another example would be this; mythicals must combine their powers – a little bit of each going to both. Actually, if you didn’t like the jewel idea than we could do that... You pick.
There's sooo much more that I could type, but if you have any questions or queries feel free to ask. ...and if you have any other ideas you know where to find me. Okay? Great. Can't wait to hear Raistlin's response. And I'm sorry for confusing you... Forgiven? Lol
