Subject: Mats for the Tournments

I have attended several tournaments in this region. I would like to see some mats set up for sparing. The region could start to raise money to cover 4 or up to 6 sections that could be matted for just the sparing section? The groups could rotate in just for sparing. There were 11 injuries at this last tournament. I am glad to see that ATA is concerned about injures but when I spend $35.00 towards a vest to protect the chest and nothing to the back. (I think that this will promote harder contacts) Most of the injuries that occurred were due to falling from a standing position. Our School teaches controlled Kicks, and what I saw was aggression and trying to hurt the other person to physically score the point. Let's step up the higher standards by setting the example for higher safety standards.
