Well fans, it's a sad day in wrestling. Not only in wrestling, but for society as a whole. Owen Hart dies at Over the Edge on Sunday night. What are the implications? Do we really know. Youth emulates power and strength. That, along with showmanship is why there is such a big following in wrestling. Owen Hart had both. But what are kids doing on the playground? I'll tell you. They're doing drop kicks, flying off the monkey bars, and doing serious damage to themselves and their friends. That's scary. Where do we draw the line, and who draws it. Vince MacMahon draws it. Who crosses it? The fans. I'm sorry, but if we as fans didn't demand bigger and better shows, the line would be firmly drawn, not in the sand, but etched in stone. Does Debra have to show her breasts every Monday night on RAW? Do any of you think she does it because she likes to? She does it because she's paid to and the fans demand to see them. Take the recent shooting in schools. Where did these youths learn this behaviour? Not from Yogi Bear. The violence in schools and on the streets is a direct result from the careless abandon of morals and value taught to our young. Not only is this an entertainment issue, it's a parenting issue. We need to instill what is right and wrong in the youths. No longer can we blame everything on television and video games. Although the superstars of video games are just binary code brought to life through a team of talented computer engineers, wrestling characters, on the other hand, are manifestations of the entertainers inner self, with some careful marketing on behalf of the company. They must take responsibility for what they do. I can garuntee that ther are a few 8 year old giving the referee at their little league game the finger cause "Stone Cold said do!"
Listen, I'm not laying all the blame for our socital wowes on the wrestling world, but take heed, Vince MacMahon and Ted Turner, the voice of the masses is strong. Those that made you, can break you. Have compassion and sensibility, my friends, because in the end, Owen Hart was a father, brother and son. He could have been yours.
