First off, let me premise this with the fact that I am a Christian, and seeking the truth from all sources. I did not come here to convert anyone to anything, but am seeking answers from the educated Islamic community.

I have a basic understanding of what the Christian bible says about the end times in Revelation about Christ coming back to claim his people and loose Satan, etc, etc.; but I would be curious to know what the Qu'ran says about the end times? Is there a rapture? What happens when all is said and done according to what you believe?

Also, I would like to know if you consider Mohammad a "Messiah" such as the Christian considers Jesus God incarnate. I also am told that the Muslim does not believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead to atone for the sins of the world.

How does a Muslim atone for their sins? How do you gain eternal life?

I hope my message is not intrusive, and certainly hope that I am not offending anyone by posting here. Your answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated.

God's richest blessings to you.

Greetings,

First of all, Muhammad was a Prophet Of God just as Jesus, Moses, Adam, Noah and all the others were. There is only one God and he is God. He has no sons nor partnets and no one is incarnate of him.

Also, no one can atone for the sins of anyone else. God says in the Holy Quran, (The interpretation of the meaning),

"...and no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another’ [al-An’aam 6:164]

A Muslim atones for his sins by seeking repentance to God. This involves first giving up the sin and then being sincere to not commit it again. The Muslim also does extra good deeds such as extra praying, fasting and giving in charity and the like in hopes of gaining points with god.

Muslims also belive in life in the Hereafter.. and that life is eternal. The life of this world is just temporary and a test for us that determines what our ultimate fate will be in the hereafter... either a life of eternity in heaven or hell.

Islam says much about the end of times and one of the signs of the last hour will be the return of Jesus. Jesus will descend before the Day of Resurrection and will follow Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He will prove the Jews to be wrong in their claim to have killed and crucified him. And he will prove the Christians to be wrong who exaggerated about him and said that he was God, or the son of God, or the third of three.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, the son of Maryam will descend among you as a just judge. He will break the cross, kill the pigs and abolish the jizyah, and money will become so widespread that there will be no one who will accept it.” (Agreed upon; narrated by Muslim, no. 155).

When Jesus comes down before the Day of Resurrection, the People of the Book will believe in him, as Allaah says in the Quran (interpretation of the meaning):

“And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) but must believe in him [‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), as only a Messenger of Allaah and a human being] before his [‘Eesa (Jesus) or a Jew’s or a Christian’s] death (at the time of the appearance of the angel of death). And on the Day of Resurrection, he [‘Eesa (Jesus)] will be a witness against them”

[al-Nisaa’ 4:159]

Jesus the son of Mary is the slave of Allaah (God) and His Messenger. Allaah sent him to guide the Children of Israel and to call them to worship Allaah alone, as Allaah says to the Jews and Christians (interpretation of the meaning):

“O people of the Scripture (Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allaah aught but the truth. The Messiah ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allaah and His Word, (‘Be!’ — and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rooh) created by Him; so believe in Allaah and His Messengers. Say not: ‘Three (trinity)!’ Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allaah is (the only) One Ilaah (God), glory is to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allaah is All Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs”[al-Nisaa’ 4:171]

Before the Day of Judgement, Jesus will descend and set the record straight about all the lies told about him. He will become a ruler of the people and establish peace and the laws of Allah (GOD) through- out the land.

I hope this gives you some information about the understanding of the Muslims.
