The issue is a matter of difference among the schools of thought. Usually, all agree that pictures depicting natural areas, monuments, or settings that have no soul (animals or human beings) are acceptable. The difference arises in pictures with souls and representations. Some schools consider that photographic pictures of souls are allowed while other ones consider them haram. Therefore, while statutes are prohibited, pictures in magazines, televisions, newspapers, books, computers, etc. are allowed. Such pictures can however be prohibited if they depict nudity or other indecent representations

In the book of (FIQH AL SUNNAH) for SHK Sayyed Sabiq ,he allowed the photographic pictures and he mentioned the hadeeth in (Saheeh Muslim) that narrated by (Isha) (R A A) Said : we have had a curtain which contain a picture of a bird,it was in the front,so one who enters can see it, the prophet (P B UP HIM) said :change the position of this curtain because whenever I enter and see it I remember the (DONIA).{MUSLIM}
From this hadeeth it is clear that this picture in the curtain was not Haram ,because the Prophet (P B UP HIM) he ONLY ordered her to change the position of the curtain not to remove or destroy it.
The hadiths narrated for images states that angels won't enter a room that has images or dogs in it. The images here mean what is hanging or of exposure in the room (painting, picture, statue). Any painting or picture done for a rug, a pillow or a matress is an exception and not included. Any picture that is not a depiction of an animal or man is another exception.

You can preserve these pictures in drawers, closets, but not in exposure lest the angels should not come in.

Photography or moving pictures are Halal if everything of that is complying with ethics and not contradictory to Shari'a laws.

Statues are haram to have. In their case, it is the same to have it anywhere in the house. You are not allowed to have a statue at all.

And ALLAH KNOWS BEST
