As Salaamu Alaikoum,

Allah (S W T ) Says in the Quran (The interpretation of the meaning):
Those who believe (in the Oneness of All�h - Isl�mic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of All�h, Verily, in the remembrance of All�h do hearts find rest[].

So,you can say the names of Allah as remembrance of Him, but
from where you got this number(500)? We can not make a rule that we should say a certain number of zikr unless it mentioned in (Saheeh) ( sound) Hadeeth or in the Quran.

Also, REMEMBER,you can only say the NAMES of ALLAH ,not only the word (ALLAH),like sofies do. Names meaning, call him by his names: The Most Hight, The Most Merciful, The Most Forgiving etc.
