First.it is not too late to learn any thing about Islam,so, please join the site and learn.
Second,Allah (The All Mighty) Sayes( the translation of the meaning):Successful indeed are the believers.
Those who offer their Salât (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness.23/1-2
There are several things you can do to improve your concentration in the prayer, to enjoy it, and to get more reward out of it. First, if there is anything pending you really have to do and know that you will be thinking of it while praying, then finish it and then perform the prayer (as long as you won't miss it). Then, remind yourself that you are addressing your prayer to God and should be in a state of devotion. Also, be sincere in your belief that your prayer that you are to perform may be the last before you pass away, and therefore, put the utmost concentration on each word and movement you do. Also, try to learn new verses from the Qur'an, know their meanings, and recite them during the prayer. With this, you will break the routine of always reciting the same things. Try to pray collectively with other Muslims at the mosque, at home, or at your work. Improve your Islamic knowledge, and read Hadiths and verses of the Qur'an related to this topic and other ones.
Every Muslim must fear Allaah and show respect towards Him. When he stands in prayer before Allaah, he must stand in a manner of humility and submission to Allaah, keeping far away from everything that may corrupt or invalidate his prayer, distract his mind, or keep him from focusing on the prayer. He must avoid anything that goes against respect and good manners. The importance of prayer is demonstrated in the many of the Prophet’s statement. For example, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,
"The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. And if it is bad, then the rest of his deeds will be bad." [Recorded by al-Tabarani. According to al-Albani, it is sahih. Al-Albani, Sahih al-Jami, vol.1, p. 503.

And Allah Knows Best.
