Author: Silvanus
Subject: Gets up...

Silvanus wakes up an hour before dawn and sits on his bed, thinking. Then, when the sky begins to burn, the bedclothes rustle and a bright-eyed Barkuni pokes his head out of the covers. Silvanus?! What ya doing?! We gonna play some more games today?! C'mon, it's morning; I'm hungry. Let's go get some breakfast! Sart keeps on chanting Let's, let's , let's. as he chases his tail around Silvanus legs. Silvanus, slightly irritated by the highstrung Barkuni, responds: I am not sure if I can play today. I have been thinking, and I have realized the uselessness of life. What matters our creative, endless toil, when, at a snatch, infinity ends the coil?" Seeing the rising confusion on Sart's face, Silvanus clarifies:"There is no point to living. No matter what we do, when we die, it is all erased, no matter how long or hard we have worked. We have no effect on eternity; it goes along on its own, without needing us for anything. Since life is so useless, what's the sense of living?" Sart, weighed down by his master's distressing thoughts, walks out of the hut, tail dragging in the dust.
