Phys Ed,

A very typical reason why people hit fat shots is looking up to see where the ball is going before you hit it. When you turn your head it makes you lower the club then when you drop in the slot your too low causing a fat shot. If you look at most of the pros they are still looking at where the ball was even after they have hit the ball, with the exception of David Duval.

As far as your slice I would bet the problem there is the same as mine sometimes, when I try to kill the ball my grip is too tight not allowing the proper release.
