Subject: New Left Hand Grip Idea

At the range this morning I tried a new left hand grip by laying the shaft of the diagonally across the left hand so that shaft starts at the first pad of the first finger and the butt end passes between the heel pad and thumb pad. This grip is very comfortable for SA since it naturally allows the shaft to form an extension of the left arm. No adduction is required. I seem to hit very well this way.

Like everything in SA I like to know the why and why not.
LOBG is very clear on the why of the right hand grip but doesn't say much about the why for the left hand.

I've provided the why for my new style. Does anyone have any comments on why not?

While were at it let's summarize the other possible left hand grips and the why/why not.

1. My NCGI teaches shaft on the heel pad with a strong grip (two knuckles showing, V pointed to right shoulder)

2. IMA has shaft at 15 to 20 deg to knuckles (less than NG). Wrist is slightly aducted. Grip does not appear to be quite as strong as NG.

3. Jack K may be saying what I have described above, but I don't have his video or book to be sure. On the web site it does state clearly that the shaft should lie diagonally across the palm and the grip should be in a neutral position with no knuckles showing.

Thanks in advance for everyones thoughts.
Dave
