I also suffered A LOT of pain in my right elbow when I was "throwing" the club through the ball. That really surprised me! I also reduced (and eventually eliminated) the right elbow pain by thinking more of the left arm. That in conjunction with focusing more on tempo -- in other words, I don't try to "explode" the right arm/hand/club through the ball, instead I gradually accelerate through. It works much better and is much less stress on the elbow.
