Peter Fox and the LTOBG book advocate holding the club in your left hand more into the fingers, with a stonger grip.

Hazledine has a neutral left hand grip, held more into the palm, just above the fingers.

Most of the NGCIs on the NG board advise weakening your left hand grip if you have problems hooking the ball.

In the long run it is a matter of what works and feels best for you.
