I also had trouble with tempo. That is the only conscious swing thought that I have now. Slow and easy and I hit the ball long and straight.

There is a very good book on the mental side of golf. It teachs slow tempo.

"Quantum Golf" by Kjell Enhager

It helped me a lot.
