True. People, even when they are confronted with undeniable facts, scurry away into tv-land. My dad is like that. My step dad is like that. I hate saying this, but I've often wondered if there are people who are meant to be sheep. Are some happier not knowing, and just being slaves? Could they handle the responsibility of any personal, social, and/or economic freedom? Just a question. Could I, myself, be a slave to unrealistic ideals of freedom?

Yeah, in an idealistic world, these questions should be asked. And solutions, that can work, must be made and followed through with.
