It seems just a bit obvious.
We do have a day for them, which really doesn't benefit those who served and survived. I don't know anyone who has died in a war, but I know at least seven people who has (or is) in the Army, Air Force, and Marines.
Of course, we have Veteran's Day. But, every Veteran's Day I gotta hear my step uncle bitch about how he's been screwed over by taxes, and everything else, by this "goddamn country I served, and now they claim they have a day fer me. Goddamn."
After that we get an hour long speech about the sixties and how everyone was his enemy.
