Subject: *Summer Day*

It was a beautiful sunny day out, perfect for a trail ride and a picnic. My saddle bags were ful and attached snugly to the horn of my western saddle. Cheyenne bobbed her beautifully dished head as I carefully slipped the toe of my left boot into the stirrup and lifted myself aboard her slender back. She swished her tail inpatiently as I gathered my reins and squeezed her gently towards the break in the trees leading to the trail. As soon as we were a ways down the dusty path I gathered both my reins into my left hand and used my right hand to dig out my sunglasses from the saddle bags. I carefully slid them on and placed my black cowgirl hat atop my head for extra protection from the glaring sun. I could hear Cheyenne knawing nervously at the bit as I swayed gently to the motion of her gait. Speaking to her softly as we continued on down the trail, she soon calmed down and quit chewing on the bit, a bad habit whom she unfortunately shared with Dazzle. We soon came to a clearing, scattered with lush grasses and wild flowers, and the distinct sound of a bubbling creek, the very same one which ran under the tiny cedar bridge at the entrance to the ranch. The only difference was that it was much wider with large boulders to climb upon and a rope swing hung from a massive oak. Halting in the middle of the glade, I dismounted, slipped the saddle off Cheyenne's back and ground tied her near a large oak tree. climbing onto a tiny boulder I dangled my feet in the cool water, just enjoying the peacefulness of the landscape and the sound of Cheyenne chomping happily on tender shoots of grass.
