Thank you for the reply Alan.

I was hoping for a text version of the scenario set-ups but I guess the owners of the system really want this game to go away. I do use VASL but it is on a stand-alone laptop that I use when underway (USCG). My DL capabilities are limited when at sea so the VASL start files probably wont happen. I have SL, COI, COD and GI at home in storage (I hope) with all the scenarios so I guess I will dig them out when I get back in a few months. I DL ATS for VASL to disk before departing but the map file was corrupted. I DL the SL module a few years back so I decided to futz around with SL again during this patrol. After having spent a few hours SL-ing again after many years I must say it is good to be back. I started playing 26 years ago when I was 12 but haven’t played in the past 5 years. During this past inport I decided that it was time to introduce my 12 year old son to cardboard wargaming via Critical Hit ATS. It is a great way to spend time with you son during the winter. He has the makings of strong cardboard General and says he can’t wait for me to get home so we can play again. I like ATS but found it frustrating. The biggest reason was the unmounted mapboards; just don’t like paying that much for a flimsy sheet map. I have to say that the counter art is very nice but I don’t like the mix of small and large counters that need to be in a stack to show casualties and other special events. Did I mention the constantly changing rules that in my opinion are poorly organized. I like the system but think I will give it more time to mature before I pick it up again.

I sure wish HASBRO/MMP would publish a new SL edition that combined the SL and COI rules with new artwork and more nationalities. Do you think there is even a glimmer of hope that they may breath some new life into the old game?

Are you failure with Critical Hit ATS and if so do you think the incremental casualty method they used would improve SL?

Thanks for the work you do here.

John
