Well, all the mapboards I ever received from AH (don't know
about how MMP is doing it) had the boards on the outside.

Only advantage I can think of for this is that it is easier
to identify the board number. Some of my acquired used
boards have been switched to having the board face inside,
which seems to make sense because it can reduce wear ... but
then the original owner has usually added a small label to
the outside to identify the board.

I suspect the decision was made due to the need to select
the appropriate board(s) to use in a game, but I'm just
guessing here. :-)
