Pony Club Polo Teams -- Nicky, 04:55:46 03/03/02 Sun (host62-7-3-113.in-addr.btopenworld.com/62.7.3.113)
Hi,
I was reading the new BHS Scottish directory and under the Polo section on Page 43, that there were two Pony Club Teams that toured in the South in 2001.
That is actually incorrect because my club Lanark & Upperward Area 19 took two teams. A Rendell and a Loriner team. So there were actually four teams that toured in the South, as Scotland also had two teams made up of various pony club players from Orkney to Kelso.
If there are any out there in Area 19 that are looking to play then please write and we will be delighted to talk with you as this year we were hoping to take more teams and an Area 19 team would be great!!!.
Last year all four teams qualified for Cowdray after the three prelim tournaments and we won the Rendel shield at Cirencester and the Loriner Shield at Tidworth and played the Scottish teams at both levels.
So come on and join us,we have some great training days planned for Area 19 different from those advertised at Perth & Dundee in Area 1.
Write back all you over aged games players at 14 you are still in Loriner. See the 2002 Training Page for all the traing chances and levels of play.
Have you been to The Scottish Polo Website there is lots to see.
Nicky

Dengie National Finals -- Editor, 07:10:57 02/24/02 Sun (host213-1-154-66.btinternet.com/213.1.154.66)
Hi to you all!!
What a great Dengie Area final we had at Rowallan yesterday Saturday 23rd February. What a day to travel. Typical Scottish weather with the snow lashing down most people turned up that were successful in the early rounds, in spite of the weather.
A great course was ready in the main arena for the final with ten skilfully placed jumps including a double and a treble. The track stretched the 27 entries to the full, which was expected of Rowallan and well worthy of the Scottish Area 19 Dengie second round competition.
After the first round there were just 11 clears. Just the right amount to go on to the tricky jump off. There were a few chances to clip the seconds off but for most riders the speed of the track was enough.
Clear rounds were few and far between, and with the tenth rider Nichola Wagstaffe riding Lady Sanchez representing Lanark and Upperward to jump there were only three clear rounds and only four to qualify.
Nichola finished her round clear bidding for the 4th qualifying position but would it be fast enough at 38.6secs to keep the last Eglinton rider out of the ribbons.
The last rider was clear over the first two fences but lost her concentration at the third fence a large oxer spread didn't take off in time and demolished the fence.
A great sigh of relief in the Lanark and Upperwood camp. Nichola having represented her club at the Cowdray Polo Championships for that last two years the only Pony Club from Area 19, was delighted to be given the chance to jump for her club at Warwickshire College at the National Dengie Winter League Final, with two friends from Lanark and Renfrew James Spy from Colgrain Equation Centre Cardross Helensburgh who came second and Erin Maconochie also from Helesburgh who came third.
Thanks to Rowallan who again hosted a great competition and the three rosettes we well recieved and appreciated by the winners.
Well done to all competitors
Kindest Regards
The Editor.

Pony Club Polo a Team Game and Great Fun!! -- Olive, 14:06:54 01/31/02 Thu (host62-7-30-137.dial.btopenworld.com/62.7.30.137)
Hey Everyone,
Have you tried the Cowdray Experience if you haven't then you must. It is such great fun being part of a Championship with over 240 ponies in the parade. That is some number of ponies and each team has to canter past the stand and in line and not break rank. Train hard and don't forget to come to the Scottish training camp at Scone Palace by kind permission of Dundee & Perth Polo Club. Its a great three days and well worth going along for the polo training, the dancing and most of all meeting all the pony club polo player from nearly all of the ponyclubs in Scotland. Last year we had players from as far North as Orkney and as far South as Kelso with special celebrity visit from some of our friends in Europe and Ireland. So what are you waiting for more information on
at present but all the info will be on this site on the Diary page in a day or so.
Well just to say I played in the championships last year it was hard but such great fun, hope you all write back and I see you all this year. I play for the Lanark so this year we hope to do even better although I have been invited to America to play so who knows!!.
Kindest Regards to all Pony Club Polo Players,
Olive
