I read Dr. Cyril Wecht's testimony from the HSCA. In it, he mentions how the bullet that had hit the president's back as JFK bent down to fix his sock or tie his shoe. He said that the bullet had hit some nerves that made the president jerk upwards when he was hit. The link is http://www.jmasland.com/testimony/hsca_med/wecht.htm

In case people were wondering how he can sit up when he was shot in the back, that's the reason why.
